You Are a Missionary

At The Rock, we believe you become a missionary at the moment you profess your faith in Jesus.  At that point, you are called to follow Him. If you are obedient, He will use you to glorify Himself wherever you are – be it your home, workplace, neighborhood or some exotic foreign country.

Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the
workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore,
to send out workers into his harvest field." Matthew 9:37-38
Martin Burnham, a missionary martyred in the Philippines by Islamic terrorists in 2002, wrote in a letter to home that his calling wasn’t to any particular place.  "I wasn't called to be a missionary; I wasn't called to the Philippines; I was just called to follow Christ; and that is what I'm doing." The words were later printed on his funeral program.
Martin’s mission was not to accomplish some lofty humanitarian goals, but his mission was to follow Jesus wherever He led.

As disciple-makers, that is our goal for everyone: to be Jesus followers. As your faith and trust give you the courage to follow, you will be amazed where He will take you and what He will accomplish through you. Some accomplishments He will allow us to see. We are convinced that other unseen spiritual accomplishments changing the lives of many will not be known until we reach heaven.

Regardless, the reward is obedience, resulting in our Savior’s much anticipated words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)
